Waverley Academy.... My first day at big school!!

11:38:00

Excited was an absolute understatement for how I was feeling Thursday morning,  what a whirlwind this week has been... woke up Monday morning and life was just normal and by Friday morning I have a new apartment with my lovely Justin and I have started college again after 6 long years. This is all just fantastic and an absolute dream come true.

Firstly I would really like to thank you all for the lovely comments, messages and tweets of support and good luck starting out on my new adventure it's truly a dream come true and all the kindness I have been shown has just been so so lovely so thanks a mill :)

I arrived at Waverley Academy at 6 bells and was greeted with such a warm welcome by the wonderful Derek O Kelly, director of Waverley. I can see a long friendship forming between myself and Derek this man is a true gentleman.

We did a lovely tour of the college and I promise I am going to do a separate post on the building and the family behind this amazing college so bear with me that I don't have pics for you on this post. I didn't want to scare my poor classmates into posing for me on the first night with them.

I joined the class on week 2 of the training and met the lovely Tanya who is my tutor, not only is she lovely but she is glowing with her pregnancy and I really must find out when she is due she looks fantastic!!
Thursday night I was in the deep end, doing a practical of a cleanse and tone but I really enjoyed it. With the ITEC course, it's very precise and I think this is fantastic for me. Whatever bad habits I may have while doing my own makeup it is so important I learn from the start how best to deal with clients and what is the proper procedure for working with them.

There is a structure to a proper cleanse and tone and this is great info for anyone who wants to take care of their own skin. We firstly did a skin analysis and no surprise my skin is not great at the moment but I am feeling really hopeful I will have it sorted by the summer!! Loads of healthy water for me get rid of this dehydration.

All the girls in the class are great craic, full of chat and we all have individual experience of makeup and likes and dislikes. I'm really happy to be a part of the class and I felt so comfortable that no matter what the question, you will be given an answer and there is nothing you can't ask.

After the double cleanse and tone we began to speak about brushes and I really loved how interactive the class was, at this stage I had told the class about the blog and we all shared our likes and dislikes on brushes and brands so of course I have my favourites at the min between my AYU eyeshadow brush, my Inglot 6SS and my MAC 217 blender.

Next week we are going to look at face, eye and lip shapes and get cracking on the day look. This should be great fun, we are hoping to have our kits and will be paired off. I really like that aspect of the course, getting to know the other class mates, at least we are all in it together so it makes it much easier if you make a mistake or need some extra help.

I do hope if you have an interest in taking a makeup course you will follow the blog posts and my progress. I am so delighted to be a part of the Waverley Academy. I feel this is the right place for me to be, the timing of the course fits in perfectly with my work timetable, the director Derek and my tutor Tanya are fantastic and such a pleasure to have met. I see big things for myself professionally and personally coming from my time at Waverley and I am going to showcase all the wonderful aspects this college has to offer.

Have you ever just arrived somewhere and thought... "Yep this is for me" well here I am at Waverley!!
Have a fantastic weekend and enjoy celebrating being Irish, I for one will be whipping out the Green Boa!

I was just wondering if you had an email address that I would contact you on? I am a Dublin-based fashion, beauty and lifestyle blogger, and I am considering organising a meet-up/event. I would love to have a chat with you about it, if you're interested?
