Hair & Make Up with Colette from The Gloss MUA

Hope you had a great weekend, it's all back to normal for me in work and it looks like May is going to be mental busy!!

Colette is a dublin lady, now working in Galway during the week but is available for makeovers and lessons in Dublin each weekend.

So myself and Colette had discussed what look I'd like so we went for loose curls and a golden/brown smokey eye with big lashes.

I arrived at 12pm and we got to work, my entire makeover took just over 2 hours and we had such great chats throughout from makeup to work to life in Dublin, I felt really welcomed and comfortable with Colette working on me.

Colette is currently trying to build up an audience base here in Dublin so I really wanted to feature her work and I had seen her work at the workshop a couple of months ago.

We worked on my hair first which there is a lot of and using the wider padel GHD, Colette created lovely loose curls on me.

We then moved onto makeup, Colette has kindly provided me with a full product list but there is just a few I would like to mention almost like a review as I really liked them.

Firstly here is the full list...

Face
Primer- Clarins instant smooth
Foundation- Clarins everlasting in 110 honey

The first product I had never tried before and really liked that Colette used was the

clarins instant smooth, which we used as a primer. Colette has used this product for years

and although a small post can cost around €26, she says a little of this goes a long long way

and that it can last you ages. I may have to try this myself.

Another product which I loved on the day was MAC's Highlighter Soft & Gentle. I actually

cannot believe I still don't own this product but it seems every time I go to get it it's sold

out so I just need to be patient and it will eventually come to me!!

Lastly ladies who love lashes.... Get some Red Cherry Lashes in #43 OMG where have they

been all my life they are just amazing, they can be found on Ebay and I will deffo be

adding some to my kit :)

Colette is a wonderful MUA so down to earth, really wants her clients feeling and looking

their best and her pricing is second to none;

Inglot Dundrum Masterclass- Spring Look with Jordan

Hey All,

So as we know I am a huge Inglot makeup addict and today they release their new lipsticks so I can't wait to get some but for now I'm here to go through a masterclass I attended two weeks ago in Dundrum.

As most of my recent posts have mentioned, things have been a little hectic in my life moving and all that jazz but feeling much better and settled now so back to blogging normality.

I love going to these masterclasses in the evenings, it's such a nice treat after a day at work and in the last two I have attended in Dundrum we were given fab little goodie bags so that's an amazing treat!! Possibly the best treat of all was a step by step guide given to us by Jordan so I have rehashed it here for you and included all the prices at the bottom of what she used and of course I've a couple of snaps of Nikita at the end of the lesson.

Jordan was working on Nikita for this look and I really liked the end result, so soft and flawless, a great look for an afternoon event, day in the beer garden or family BBQ.

Jordan began the look with the eyes first:

Apply the eye base all over the lid and then set it with the 355 cream shadow using the 6SS brush.

Using the same brush, apply 314 Orange/Pink colour into the socket and blend up to just under the eyebrow bone.

Then using the 10s brush apply 326 Chocolate brown to the outer socket to define the eye shape.

Go back into the socket with your 6SS to blend the brown out to create a gradual fade.

When you are happy with the colour, apply 07 Gold onto the lid and blend out slightly (not to high into the crease)

Apply 77 black gel liner along the lash line and into the flick if desired using the 31T brush.

Using your hands, apply the under makeup base (primer) all over the face, avoiding the eye area.

Then using the 4SS, apply the AMC foundation all over the face, making sure you have an even coverage all over.

Apply AMC concealer under the eyes using the same brush.

Contour the cheekbones using the AMC concealer in 73 also using the 4SS brush. Use the 66 face and body illuminator to give cheekbones a bronze/fresh look.

Set the foundation/highlight/contour using the pressed powder no.14 and set the under eye area with powder no.24.

Fill in the brows using eyeshadow no.342 and an angled brush, then when you’re happy with the shape, apply gel liner no.89 around the brown to really define the brow shape.

Finish off the look by applying lipstick 413 all over the lips and then the lip defence treatment on top.

As you can see the look is quite natural and soft and it was great to see a look like this being demonstrated. Sometimes I find there is a huge emphasis on creating really brilliant looks and then when I read back over my own notes, I find it really hard to follow even my own instructions (not the coolest thing I've said)

I think now if you can master the basics of a goof face look incorporating your highlight, contour, blush and brows then the next step is eyes and you wil have mastered your own makeup!

Meet Some of my Class From Waverley Academy!

A slightly different post based on last week’s class ladies but one I feel you will like… This is the meet some of my Make Up Class post!

Last week I arrived early to class and a few of the girls were already in the class so I decided to ask them why they were attending Waverley Academy and what they hoped to get out of going to this course.

So let’s get started…..

Lindsey who follows my blog (thank you) sits two rows up from me and got married last year which was very exciting to hear about. She has always had an interest in makeup and now finally has the time and the drive to move into the industry. She would love to go on and work on TV or Film Makeup. Lindsey is from Dublin.

Elaine sits next to her and like many of us has had an interest in makeup for years. She would ideally love to be a freelance MUA or work in fashion makeup. Elaine is from Dublin.

Danielle is beautiful, a little doll and a fellow leftie like me, she loves makeup! She thinks she would like to work on a cosmetic counter such as MAC when she finishes the course. Danielle is from Dublin.

Next up is Roz, who has already mastered the makeup in the 20 mins we have for the exam which I am so jealous of! Roz said she would like to work in the fashion industry doing makeup or again make her money freelance. Roz is from Kildare now living in Dublin.

Lisa sits at the top of the class and is actually one of my closest friends in secondary school’s little sister. I hadn’t seen Lisa in years but was great to see her on the 1^st night of the class. Lisa is now studying arts in Dublin but is hoping to move to Canada after college and would love to work in makeup over there.

The last two ladies I have for you today are another Lisa and Sinead. Sinead actually wasn’t there, she was away in San Francisco for the week but herself and Lisa work together so she could fill me in. Sinead is a singer, a wedding singer and said she would love to combine her talent into makeup and work on the bridal scene. She also has a huge interest in the skincare side of the course so may want to progress into that also. Lisa and Sinead both sit in front of me in class and Lisa is gas, I was working on her last week and at the end of the class, my tutor discovered I was a leftie and standing at the wrong side of the bed all the time, it explain why I found it all so awkward! Lisa wants to learn how to master her own makeup and possibly move on to working on cosmetics counters.

Unfortunately we were missing a number of students last Thursday night in my class, such as Kelly who sits beside me and Gemma who is just the best laugh you could have in a class.

We got started at 7 as always and more of the girls arrived so I will start to feature them all over the next few weeks. I am really enjoying my time at Waverley and this week we are starting the evening look so the girls have all been warned the camera will be out!!

Most of last week's class was on skin disorders and although it was fascinating some of the pictures were horrific, I really must have a word with college director Derek, he's out to get us with the worst samples of skin disorders we all felt really really ill after it!! I'll spare you those pics but on a plus note, Waverley have been excellent in choosing the ITEC course as with all the skincare knowledge, if this is where your interest lies, you will have such a large range of knowledge you could work on a skincare counter and get more into the science of makeup.

My review of the Cocoa Brown Spray Tan in Edele's Beauty Clinic Tramore

So I made the journey home for the weekend back to Blaa land to get some home comforts in Tramore and lucky for me I had seen on Facebook Edeles Beauty Clinic was holding a comp for 3 ladies to get a FREE Cocoa Brown Spray tan as it was new to their salon, my name is pulled from the hat so I booked myself in for 12:30pm on Saturday.

The weather was horrific on Saturday in Tramore, I was so worried the rain would make me all patchy but luckily only one drop landed on me so I was able to cover that up.

I arrived in and was taken to a lovely warm treatment room, I hadn’t been to the salon since it had moved to Elm Park. It's beautiful inside, all the staff are wonderful and you can tell you will be looked after once you arrive. Edel and I had been speaking on the phone on Friday about how pale I am and how dark I like to go and told me Elaine would be taking care of me on Saturday.

Elaine was so friendly we chatted away about tanning and nails while I was in the salon and she gave me clear instructions on how to best maintain my tan.

So in preparation for my tan, I had showered and exfoliated using the Cocoa Brown Tough Stuff and make sure my skin was all buffed and good to go.

In the salon, I had no products on my skin at all and I really liked the initial colour the spray left on my skin. I agreed with Elaine to leave it on for the 3 hours at least as I wanted a darker tan, I had to nip into town so all in all by the time I showered, my Cocoa Brown spray tan had been on my skin 5 hours.

I did notice a lot of colour washed off and I wasn't sure it was dark enough for me. I agreed with my mum and my sister that leaving it on for the 5 gave me a really healthy natural looking tan, perfect for occasions and the likes but for me I do tend to go a little darker on nights out especially if I am wearing dark colours as I feel very pale in general. The next day I was out with friends and the girls all loved the colour and said it looked really healthy.

To maintain the tan, you don't need to moisturise within the first 24hrs, then for the next 48 hours you use an oil free cream which is exactly the product Cocoa Brown have called Chocolate Whip and then following on from then you can use an oil based cream or lotion to help your tan come off easily and cleanly.

Really hope the spray tan takes off as I really liked it and I love how I am not patchy anywhere, I've been looking after my tan and it seems to be lasting well and starting to fade naturally. There are a number of salons now using Cocoa Brown and where better to start your collection than an Irish fave Penneys! All products seem to be under the €10 mark so you really can't go wrong ladies!

My 1st attempt at the Cream Contour with Laveesha Cosmetics Contour Palette!

Hello all, oh this is a tough one for me today feeling slightly sheepish today after a serious weekend of rugby.

I am very proud Munster woman and delighted with the win on Saturday so we jetted back up to the big smoke from home in Tramore to watch the Leinster game out with friends and unfortunately poor Justin's dreams of another Leinster Heineken Cup are over so C'mon on the red army!!!!

Anyway...... back to more important business of contouring and highlighting. I was sent the new Laveesha contour palette a couple of weeks back and couldn't wait to try it, with all this moving I literally hadn't a chance until yesterday so in the new bathroom I attempted my 1st cream contour look. My regular readers will know, I never claim to be an expert and I can safely say cream contouring is not as easy as it looks on YouTube at all but I do feel with a bit of practice I'll be smashing!!! I have to say now trying to find decent lighting in my room and bathroom wasn't easy, I only had my phone camera on me (the big one is still all packed away) so the pics aren't great but I will deffo have more posts on this in the future.

So here with are the 1st picture of me bare faced just primer added...

For yesterday's look, I wanted it soft and summery seeing as the sun was out yesterday so I went for a medium coverage foundation as my base. I am loving my Blank Canvas Cosmetics F20 brush and not just because it's pink it is as amazing brush and at €13.99 it really is a must have, applies makeup so easily!

Then onto the contouring and highlighting dun dun dun!!!! I found it a little hard to choose the colour which I thought suited so I took a guess as I had tan on and went for a colour I thought was 2 darker than what I was wearing. I applied the contour colour on my face with the Fuschia flat foundation brush.

Because I'm a square face like Simon Cowell I decided to contour my forehead (loads) and then went for the hollow of the cheek and along my jaw line trying to give my face a better shape. I attempted to run the brush down the sides of my nose but it was too thick so note to selves, try a smaller brush for your nose!

Next was onto the blending, this is deffo the hardest and most important part of creating a good look, you really need to work on the blending, you have to be ready to move (you don't want your product sticking in lines on your face) but I have to say what I like about Lavessha Palette is the product didn't set and blending was very easy. For this I used my Real Techniques Stippling Brush. I thought this brush would be the easiest as I had seen in many tutorials people using duo fibre brushes. I may have to invest in a smaller duo fibre brush or the new Blank Canvas F30 I have had recommended to me.

Onto the highlight then... I applied this in the V shape between my brows, under my eyes and above my cheek bones, I placed a small dot on my cupids bow and on my chin also. I used an old fakey MAC brush but it wasn't my best choice I think I will go for my Inglot 4SS in future, I just couldn't see it at the time.

Once again I went in with my Real Techniques brush, I had given it a little wipe to see if there was much dark product left on it first and went for a serious blend. The key to the cream contour is a good blending brush. I do like the RT Stippling brush, I think it works really well but I would love to hear from you if you have any good ideas on a blender for me.

I have to say for my 1st attempt at using the Laveesha Contour Palette, I really liked it. I know my talent wasn't the best and that's ok because I'm all about learning and practice so please don't be disheartened if you don't feel you have the total Kim K look on the 1st go. The packaging with Laveesha is simple and compact which is great, its so flat you can bring it with you anywhere!
