Hello Everyone,
Is Youngblood a brand you've heard of? It's been doing the rounds in Ireland for at least the last 18 months and I've been luck enough to try a few bits and pieces from their range. I was first introduced to the brand back in May 2014 and you can read all about that HERE I have been a big fan since first reviewing some products from the launch but as I hadn't seen a stockist near me, it became a brand that had slipped my mind.
That was until one of the girls who I had met in Inglot Chloe Boucher started working with Youngblood and I started to get really interested in their primer and foundations. I was kindly sent some samples which I have used and are now all gone so I am happy to give you my thoughts.
Mineral Primer:
"This colorless base helps enhance the performance of makeup throughout the day. The lightweight, silky formula smoothes the appearance of fine line and pores, creating an even surface for foundation. Packed with minerals and vitamins to protect skin from environmental damage" (www.ybskin.com)
This is my fave and that's why I have to start with it. I was so sad to see this come to an end. To be fair, the little sample size I got was so long lasting. This primer is so good, you really only need a tiny amount at a time so a pea sized amount will absolutely do your whole face. it's a silicone feel so it glides onto the skin very easily and then you just give yourself a couple of mins and apply your foundation. This product is something I would happily purchase and have in my personal kit for ages. I loved how my foundations sat onto this primer regardless of what make they were. This primer retails at €35. It seems a little steep but I promise you, it will last so long it's a solid investment.
Liquid Mineral Foundation:
"Say goodbye to dry! Youngblood’s Liquid Mineral Foundation contains a Deep Sea Hydrating Complex quenches parched skin for a healthy radiance. A special blend of rare Reduced Salt Deep Sea Water, botanicals and more than 20 ocean minerals soothes and revitalizes skin. The pore-free finish wears for hours."
Unfortunately I think I am a little on the fence about this product. I think it is just my skin type that maybe didn't suit the sample. Unlike the primer that lasted ages, the sample of the foundation was just a little small so I think I used it too sparingly and then didn't get the full effect I wanted. I am also a little unsure if with my fear of oil that this is really for me. I don't want to be negative as I think with foundation sometimes you need to try it for a few faces, with different products over it and then make a call. I may find a local stockist and get them to try it out on me again before I make a definite call. This retails at €37.
Loose Mineral Foundation
"Create the naturally flawless look you’ve always coveted with this ultra-fine, luxurious powder. The lightweight formula provides buildable coverage and a soft radiance — without any glitter or shimmer. Its exclusively designed container dispenses the precise amount of powder"
For a while now I have been using the Fuschia mineral foundation in Fawn and I really like this for going out but I have to say I loved the Youngblood mineral powder for during the day. I felt this sat really well on my skin on the days when I just needed a little colour on my skin and this felt fresh and clean all day. I think if you are someone who likes their mineral makeup then Youngblood is a great option for you. Again this is a little pricey at €37 but when you get the technique right of buffing the product into the skin, it again will last you ages. This is the product I think most people would like in their collection especially in the summer. You can build up the coverage quite easily so if like me you sometimes need that full face, you can put this on over your foundation.
I think Youngblood Cosmetics are a fabulous brand and well worth their cost. They are such a proactive company with many of their stockists hosting workshops with their MUA's and they have super giveaways on their facebook page so be so sure to check that out HERE
